Version 5, although it seems like the minute I bought it 5.5 came out...some things never change. lol

Photoshop 5 had just come out when I started using it in High School, Multimedia class was awesome =) and I remember the first version that I convinced the parents to buy me for X-mas was Photoshop 5.5 ... I didn't buy my own until Photoshop 7.0 which I still use today
