I own several tablets and have been using them for many years.
My main ones are the Intuos 4 Medium. This is my work horse and I take it everywhere with me, I'll use it on a plane, coffee shop or even while doing presentations.
On my desktop, I'm fortunate to have a Cintiq 21UX. This is one where I draw on the screen. Its great when I'm on my main workstation. It's big so I don't travel with it, I use the Intuos for that.
I have the regular pen, the Artpen (supports rotation) and an airbrush that I use in a weird way. I use the airbrush for retouching because I can control opacity and line thickness separately.
I also have the smaller Cintiq 12" which is great for putting on my lap while watching TV and sketching. I also use this as a Kiosk at trade shows.
Here is a review I wrote for Intuos 4

And for the Cintiq 12"
