Can't get Tutorial DVDs to play on my Mac

Hi
I can't get the Photoshop Cafe Live and Special Effects DVDs to play on my Mac. I'm using a Mac Pro running Snow Leopard OS 10.6.3. When I insert the DVD into my disk drive I get an error message:
You inserted a blank CD. Choose an action from the pop-up menu or click ignore.

If I click ignore then the DVD doesn't even show up in my finder. I know my disk drive is functioning because I can run other DVDs on it with no problems. Is there a codec I need to download to get the DVDs to play?
Any other suggestions would be great!
