Awesome! :cheers
Like the facial hair, skin wrinkles and slight depth of field. The fabric texture must have been most tedious. Not so sure 'bout the little monkey though. ...wanna keep an eye on him incase he jumps out an' snatches my oreos. :D

One word... Stunning!
The hair, skin and overall detail and texture given to the man and the bambo is nothing less than perfect... but...
...I think the monkey needs some more work... After looking at the image initially I have gone back to it a couple of times to try and work out what it is that bothers me about it and my conclusion is:
1, The monkey's head doesn't seem to be attached to the body of the monkey... the shadow/shading looks a little rushed compared to the perfect shadow/shading given to the man hood across his head say.
2, The hair on the body of the monkey looks to perfect and needs the odd stray here or there.
3, The face and ear of the monkey needs to be desaturated so its not so pink and maybe a little more desaturated in the areas that are in shadow.
Here is a VERY quick version to show what I'm talking about.

Please don't take these comments the wrong way... I think the image a stunning I just thought it could only take a couple of things to make this picture perfect.
Could you tell me about the book you mentioned in your post?
Cheers and I envy your talent.

I believe what makes this such an AMAZING piece of work is the wrinkles on his forehead... That combined with the lighting makes it so believable!. Marvelous!

I wouldn't call them mistakes... your talent is amazing but after being an artdirector/retoucher for over 17 years I find myself being very critical... I truly wish I had your talent.
I'm not sure why your post isn't working... I've just added it to my post (above) with no problem.
Copy the URL

and then press this button:
http://www.aircreativelab.com/gallery/Screen-shot-2010-01-03-at-8.25.51-AM.jpg
Paste in the URL of the image:
http://www.aircreativelab.com/gallery/Screen-shot-2010-01-03-at-8.29.51-AM.jpg
and hit OK
That should be it... give it a go and see if it works.
Good luck and keep up the good work.
Thanks for the fix Colin

Very cool... thanks for that. Even though I use Photoshop pretty much exclusively with photographic and 3D rendered source material, and not brushwork, it's really interesting to see the process. Thanks for sharing.
