Frames are limited only by your imagination. I know that sounds kind of cheesy, but it couldn't be more true. By creating new layers on top of your other work, you can do many different things. Using your selection tool, draw a rectangle over your image. Then invert your selection. In a new layer you can fill with any color that you think fits your image. At this point, your new layer can be modified with any effect of your choosing. There are some cool tutorials for making "photographic edges" on this site. Once your finished with that layer, you can add another frame over that one and so on and so on. Basically, like I said it is only limited by your own imagination. And of course you don't want to detract from your image with a frame that is too "busy."
Also, if you already have a frame and you just want to make a black inside border, you can use your drop shadow effect. Drag your opacity all the way up, and do the same thing with the spread. Drag your distance slider all the way to the left. Now you can adjust your size to fit your pic.
:cheers
