hmmm. I think a lot of these early entries to this contest of illustrating the caption are way off the intended idea. The illustration is suppose to covey a meaning. So far, a horse, a sunset and a guy waving his hat underwater are really, how shall I say it without putting the entrants down lame. I don't see anything sofar that says, "Create, don't steal". The B&W image of the vehicles is really intersting, but it doesn't have anything to do with the caption. Sorry, but if I were an ad exec, I'd have you escorted out of the office with a big'ol rejection slip.
My entry? Not gonna submit one 'cuz I know I am unable to create a decent entry in the alloted time. ...and so far, haven't see much in the way from some of the regulars, just a bunch of fresh new forum users wanting the prize?

Just my 1.25 cents.

hmmmmm, You must not have an imagination at all in that shallow mind of yours. The photo of this newborn filley represents the creation of life, and one must always believe the Gift of Life is the creation of God. Not more than 6 hours after her birth, coyotes took her life. A little advice to you, my friend, learn the meaning/story of a particular photo, before you shoot off that trap of yours!

Uh-oh rc, you probably just opened the pandora box.

With every contest, there will be all kinds of entries, some quality, some abstract, some requiring comprehension.

As this is a "capture the caption", I would think tt entrants could write a line or two about the work and how it relates to the caption. And perhaps we see the story behind and not be left to our imagination.

Hey all. First of all, let's keep this friendly, we are all here to enjoy ourselves and respect each others views and talents. All new and old members are just as welcome. :)

Ray: That's not a bad idea to let people add an explanation if they like.

As for judging, we will be looking at the theme as the criteria and will be considering all ideas. For example, The new filly is definitely seen as on track.

All entries are welcome, some people are just going to have fun and others will be more serious. I think its important to stay with the spirit of things and the cafe and extend that friendly cafe welcome to everyone :)

Understood Colin. My apologies if my statement may have offended anyone. Was not the intention, just an observation.
I took the Capture the Caption: Create, Don't Steal too literally. Other phrases can be easily illustrated. A picture is worth a thousand words, right? There are three there to work with. Yeah, those words do encompass a large realm of thought. To convey an illustration of this thought would, I imagine, take a great deal of visual information. ...maybe I'm over thinking this?

Horseman ~ not my belief. Not the place to discuss it. Sorry to hear the story about the filley. Unfortunate. That adds a bit more meaning/story to the image that wasn't there when first viewed.

...and yes, I do like to go trap shooting once and a while. :D

rcfreas;

Thank you for your comments, for I too owe the room an appology...I didn't mean to make a scene like that. The loss hit my wife and I pretty hard. So to All, I appologize.
