hi everyone

i have a problem im hoping can be cured - for some reason when i use photoshop 6 and 7 in winxp home i seem to have an error with the light effects filter. when i open the dialog box for that filter none of the lighting types appear in the drop down menu - all that shows in the menu is a default yellow spotlight.

ive tried replacing the folder with the light effects filter plug-ins, copying the ones from my other pc with winxp pro but made no difference. im wondering if it is a winxp home conflict and whether there is a patch i can download to fix it.

thanks

morpyre, not sure totally seeing as i work on a mac, but have you tried resetting your prefs. Give that a shot and see if that works.

just in case: On startup shift+option+command.

hm...i´ve seen this problem before @ the PSC...
i cán´t rember it right...but imho somebody was talking of a soon to be released patch...
...maybe u siad that ;)

sorry...i haven´t got more info.
you may try to search @ google groups...
with a quick look i found this:
>>> google group thread <<< (http://groups.google.de/groups?hl=de&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&threadm=1de66da6.16%40WebX.la2eafNXanI&rnum=1&prev=/groups%3Fq%3Dphotoshop%2Bwindows%2Bxp%2Blightning% 26hl%3Dde%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26oe%3DUTF-8%26selm%3D1de66da6.16%2540WebX.la2eafNXanI%26rnum %3D1)
--> no solution there, just some possible reasons why this error ocures

Try reseting your preferences by holding Shift+Ctrl+Alt while Photoshop loads.

thanks for the offers of advice

i tried resetting the prefs on photoshop bootup but unfortunatly it made no difference at all.

i would use my other pc with the filter working but the monitor is old and dark and when brought across to the new bright clear screen the colours are totally different - i cant swap the screens either because the connections are different.

thanks anyway

You could probably find an adapter to switch screens. :)

or hopefully persuade my parents to buy a new monitor - hopefully one of those lovely flat thin ones ...lol
