We went out for a walk by the creek behind our home and I took this picture of two dragonflies. Any comments would be appreciated.

nice, though it looks like theres some branches out of focus in the foreground that are distracting from the image
i know that its really hard to get close to these things without them flying away, nice capture though, it would be great to get even closer and really focus the subject matter of the image

WoW! I didn't even notice it. :blush I guess as I get better at it I will be able to see things like that. Thanks for the comments.
I like the foreground branches I think they add some depth to the image and put the dragon flies where they belong, just out of reach. If I was able to retake this image I would not worry so much about foreground branches as I would exposure control. The Dragonflies are in a shady area and therefore are underexposed. In retrospect I can see a reflector or a fill flash being used to help out a little bit here.
When I look at it for the third or fourth time, the foreground branch does distract only because it runs directly across the happy couple.

There's just the one branch causing trouble which is a shame. I guess this was hardly visible in the viewfinder. JimG's right about needing a fill in flash to light up the beasties, alternatively showing them in silhouette would be fine too, but a slightly different point of view would shift their wings from the area of dark leaves behind and show them to their finest.
How big (long) were they - they look to me like damselflies...I could be wrong.
Nice take anyhow.

I think that it is a bit too green therefore you cant really see the dragonfly.
