Nikon announces two new cameras to there DSLR lineup.
The D3 and D300 (http://www.nikonusa.com/announcement/index.html). OMG, I'm going to be in heaven.
I've been saving up my pennies for the last 3 months. I'm hoping I can afford one of them.
WOOHOO :cheers:cheers:cheers

Hermie, there are 2 new Canons coming as well. In September I think. The 40D and the 1Ds MKIII. Sweet, although I think I will splurge for a new lens instead. I haven't had my 400D for long enough to constitute an upgrade just yet.

Padiq -> I'd recommend saving a few more dollars and going for the D40x. The extra 4 megapixels at a really decent price.
Politik -> yea, those lenses are sweet, but I know I won't be able to afford them. But i can dream, right? :)
Hermie -> no news, no suspects, no investigation, I got screwed by everyone including the insurance companies. So I'm pinching pennies trying to regroup. But thanks for asking.
Elaine -> I'll be posting like a madman once I get it. I may be in Singapore in 2008. I have a teammate that lives and works there and I may need to spend a couple of weeks doing some training with him. I'll keep you updated.
Hermie -> I heard a rumour that Sigma was coming out with a lens in early 2008 with a couple of zooms with a 2.8. I love Sigmas new lenses.

yeah, the D3 is just AWESOME. a 5d on steroids - and what a great body...:notworthy
with the introduction of their new wide angle glass and cameras, Nikon has really closed whatever gap there was between them and Canon.
my issue with Nikon is not their hardware - i started shooting with Nikon and i am a fan. my problem with Nikon is their encryption of WB info in NEF forcing folks to use THEIR software for usable, accurate adjustments...
i am glad Nikon came out with such a killer line this year because i think it demonstrates to Canon that their secondary cameras deserve a more accurate focus system, better ISO performance, and more control over what we shoot - even in live view.
competition is great for everyone.

Here's one that's on Lebowski's wish list...

I think it would get along nicely with my Canon Rebel XTi (400D)...

Lebowski - that's a great lens. Darnit!! got to save more pennies. But yea, that would be a great addition to any lens line-up.
Paradox - you're funny, man!!! I appreciate that in you. :) I think you'd like the D3 over the D2x, but money is always an issue. Maybe you can find a sponsor to help you? :lol

The new D300 surely looks sweet but I think I'll stand with those who wait and see how it works out with the early adopters.
I have been saving for a D200. In the interim I bought a Pentax K10D which I do like very much, but there are some things it won't do that the D200 will (B&W shooting mode for one thing). On the other hand there are features the K10D sports that the D200, and the D300, doesn't (internal SR to name one).
What I'm torn about now is that I've recently discovered the Fuji S5. So I'm trying to decide whether to skip the D200 altogether in favor of the S5, then get a D300 later!
Aarrrggghhh!!! *pulls hair out*

I am really happy for you,Nikon users. You FINALLY have FF cameras+ they are very competitive with Canon lineup. However, this will force Canon to work harder. I can only imagine what they'll put in the next 6-8 months!!

I like the sigma lenses to but they don't have (YET) the "steady" shot (image stabelizer), but on the other hand that's about $500,= less than the same lens from canon with stabelizer!!!!
fotodog - bummer!!!:mad: about the insurance companies!!! Why don't they "just" pay up, when you need them too!!!
