Anybody having trouble closing Illustrator down, after being in it for a couple of hour doing complex images. Philip ?
You can close down your document alright, but when you close Illy it just hangs and then its time for Ctrl+Alt+Delete

I've had the exact same problem Daz.
It's irritating, but so far, it hasn't seemed to have any negative effects.

Thank you to the both of you :)
I thought I might have a duff Illy, I'm mush better now :)
Yes its seems to work OK apart from closing down, very irritating.
I had the same problem two days ago with Illustrator. I could not even Force Quit.
I did Illustrator Adobe User to User forum search.

OK Daz, I've been working on a very complex street map file today. I found that closing Illustrator by going to File > Exit or even using Ctrl + Q it didn't hang.
It seems like by using the close button (top right) is causing the "Not Responding" issue. At least for me.

Oh cool I'll try File > Exit or the short cut keys would be better I think.
Humm seems like an obvious but good reminder is due here...

The best way to increase the likelihood that bugs will be addressed in a dot release is for multiple people to either submit an official bug report on the online form, or call the Customer Support phone lines and report it that way. The number of times a problem gets officially reported from the field by different customers is the main factor in prioritizing what gets attention and how it is handled.

The User to User Forums are just what the name says, a way for users to help each other. They are not a way to contact Adobe.
Bug reports on here may make engineers aware of the problem, but engineers have very little input into which bug fixes are slated for inclusion in updates. That decision is controlled by Customer Support and Product Marketting, with their decision being based primarily on the level of customer demand, with other factors being the risk of the change introducing other problems, whether there is sufficient QE resources to test the changes, and whether it will require changes to localized resources

Hi i have some good information about illustrator CS3...
The Adobe Illustrator section provides annotated links to helpful, top quality, reliable Illustrator tutorials, vector graphics tutorials, tips, and more for Illustrator. Illustrator tutorials are for all levels, from newbies to advanced Illustrator users and cover how to use features within Illustrator (such as the Text Tool, Live Trace, the Pen Tool, Brushes, Mesh Tool), and how to create various effects with Illustrator, such as swirls, curls, swooshes, ribbons, and how to create vector graphic icons or navigation buttons and tabs, how to integrate Photoshop CS and Illustrator CS3 using Vector Smart Objects, and much more. http://www.infysolutions.com

I think the Adobe programs are a bit psychotic myself. I get all manner of strange behavior from both Photoshop and Illustrator. Sometimes PS will just shut down when I'm in the middle of something - no warning boxes or anything just "Bye-Bye!" Illy will do the same thing, but not as often.
The really weird thing about Illy is that whenever I try to open an AI file that I've saved on a disc or my external HD it will say it can't read the file and then close. It's not doing it as much anymore, but it used to do that all the time. PS will close on it's own sometimes when I'm zoomed in close working on a document (usually while using the brush or some other tool). It will also close unexpectedly sometimes when I click the Layer Styles button on the bottom of the Layers Palette - and before it does I get a bunch of browser windows opening to PS Help.
Weird stuff.
Useful message for me,thanks! (http://www.custom-rubber-wristbands.com)

Sounds to me like illustrator is filling the memory and not wanting to let go. I had a similiar problem on my mac whenever I would exit any of the adobe programs it would always report a crash.
