Hi Barbas, I was going to reply in Greek but I didn't want to make an ass of myself.
I had a tut for doing what you want and I'll see if I can locate it for you.
BTW where is Xanthi? My family comes from Volos.

You live in Greece?
Xanthi is in Thrace northern part of greece between Komotini and Kavala.

I don’t have my tut handy, but I can say with a decent background or drop shadow you can get a more realistic trans parent feel.
In the tut I wrote I made the shape (or text) beveled & black, over a black background, merged and chromed it. Then I had had a PRE-made selection of the original shape to load & then inverse so I could cut way the extra black background. Blend the layer with screen and duplicate it.
Throw in curve adjustments to taste!! :P
Sorry it’s such a rough description but I am on my way out the door!

Ok after 2 computer crashes and some unruly family members I am back.. Here is what I was able to get together for you…
LINK: Glass tut (http://www.geocities.com/sademise/glastut.html)
I add varying numbers and types of transparent layers (of the original image) to retain some original aspects.
Some times it works better to use the Overlay mode instead of Screen to get more of a watery effect

I got the gloss streaks from the chrome effect step... Look again at steps 16 or so. :)
