Hi Guys,

Just got a quick question, I dont have much experience with jumpdrives, however was wondering if it is possible to install a program on the jumpdrive and run it from the jumpdrive through the usb on the computer. Id be installing my canon photo program and using this in europe for my trip in June. Im just looking for a way to open the program and put my photos right on the drive without installing the program on my host families computer. ;)

In addition, are there any suggestions for which brand or jumpdrives I should look into getting? Im thinking something around 2gb..

Thanks, any helps appreciated.
Tim

The "potential" problem with that is some programs require the ability to save content to the C: drive of the machine.

Of course others, such as Firefox have versions that can run from the thumb drive.

I guess it is worth a shot if you could end up using the drive for something else.

Rather than installing your canon program on the drive & connecting your camera to the PC, why not use a card reader & just copy from the camera's card to the drive.

Alternatively buy a couple of decent sized memory cards - they are pretty cheap these days (2gb is £20 at my local store & 4gb £35) & they should keep you going for your whole trip.

thanks for the input, Ive got quite a bit of memory its just I dont want the darned things acting up, and lose everything, sometimes Ill get an error which reads corrupt data and it will continue to take photos but save as corrupt and wont open. Id hate to lose all my photos. So does a card reader act as an additional drive similar to a jump drive then or transfer files to the pc?

I don't think that jump drives are any more reliable than Flash cards
- they are both Flash Memory. If you just buy more cards then youll be set.
