Hello,

One thing that has always irritated me about ID was the changing the text from bold or italic...the CONTROL-B does not work. You always have to go up to the character box and manually make the change. Very time consuming.

Is there a way to create your own shortcut keys and make this possible?

Thanks for any help,

DN

This is because you can't faux bold things in InDesign - you need to have the entire font family, with bold, italic etc.
(Faux bold is not really a font, it's an incorrect "forced" bold that some programs - Quark, PS - can implement, but not in InDesign)
So if, for example you want Helvetica bold, you need to actually have that "bold" font from the font family.
The font family list would look something like:
Helvetica
Helvetica-bold
Helvetica-bold-oblique (bold italic)
Helvetica-oblique
Helvetica-black etc.

Hope that helps!
