Hi y'all... I'm a novice PS user, and can do some basic tasks with masking, selections, cloning, and stuff. But I need some suggestions on how to remove a shadow in this image.

If it was more of a uniform area, I'd probably clone/heal. But the shadow from the candle (and other?) is falling onto an irregular surface, without a whole lot of repetition to clone from.

I tried a bit of a go with a feathered selection and some level adjustments, but I just can't seem to get that right...

Any suggestions on removing the shadow? Thanks...

For the gold part at the top with the pattern. Select a good portion of it and hit Crtl+J. That selection is on a new layer now. You can move that selection over the shadowed area. Same with the image at the bottom, except you'll have to mirror the selection by transforming horizontally.
