Buttons in Flash aren't too dificult once you get the hang of them.

Design how you want your button to look and then press F8 and choose to convert your object in to a button.

Once you've done that a box will appear around it. Double click your object again to go "in to" it.

Now if you look at the top you'll see there are four boxes on the timeline: Up, Over, Down, Hit.

"Up" is what your button looks like when the mouse is no-where near (ie what it will look like 90% of the time); "Over" is what the button will look like when the mouse is over it; "Down" is what the button will look like when the mouse clicks the button and Hit just allows you to define the boundary of your button by drawing a square (or any other shape) which will remain invisible when the button is viewed in your movie.

In the Up box, you will already have the design that you have originally made, although you can always make any changes to it that you want. To make changes to any of the other states, you need to add a keyframe in the necessary box. For example, if I want to change how the button looks when the mouse is over it, then I will choose the "Over" box, press F6 and then make my changes. When I've finished making my changes, then click on "Stage1" just under the timeline to return to the main stage.

You can do this to make little indivdual Flash buttons that you can insert into Dreamweaver seperately or you can just put them on the stage as part of an overall larger movie.

Let me know if you need any more help

Yeah, basically do it all in Flash and then insert the .swf file in to an HTML page. If you've got Dreamweaver then it's just the same as inserting an image ... only you click on the Insert Flash button instead!!

As far as sound goes, depends what you want do really. If you just want a little sound as someone rolls over your button or clicks on it, then add a new timeline when you're "inside the button" and just drop the little sound into the relevant box (Up, Over or Down).

For anything more than that, then you can either just drop a sound in to the main movie (it will show in the timeline) or you can script it. Dropping it in to the timeline is easier, but it makes your file bigger and you don't get as much control over it.

Let me know what you want to do with the sound though, and I'll see if I can help!
