Well finally finished up one of the three pieces i have been working on. This is the first one a photomanipulation with some painting. THe butterflies are drawn then scanned in and taken through streamline. Then opened up in Illustrator cleaned up and made my black shapes and lines. I then exported to ps and painted. Trust me they are not as detailed as they look, alot of layer modes, blur and dodge tool along with smudge tool to get the effect and texture i wanted on the butterfly. The smaller ones are just duplicated from the large one changed the colors and so on so on. The forest bg is just made up of some painted black trees no real detail of them just enough to make them look kinda real, I made a layer mask around women in chair saved it and then took out the remander of the image and textures to get my effects. Used some an overlay, softlight and a little blur then just duplicated it a few time added lighting effect etc. etc. I added the tape to make it looked ripped and just touched up areas i think needed. THere was more to this just didnt feel like taken up alot of room and just wanted to give a brief description on how I acheived this. I Would love to hear your c/c and what type of mood you get from the pic..Thanks in advance and hope you enjoy..cybr

Simply amazing Cybr.
But if I may pick a nit, I think that the rips and the tape detract from the image which is simply gorgeous.
Well done Cybr!!!

Hey cybr that is phenomenal, it really is. The woman with the butterflies flying around her look great. The forest and the twinkling stars make it look imo anyway as if she is dreaming. To me she looks sad and the butterflies are her feelings being released into the dark, misty and spooky forest. The lighting looks as if could be part of a frame and that it will eventually fade into dark thus her waking up and seeing things in a whole new light and feeling better about herself. :roll
If this makes no sense to some or all of you then please remember this is only my opinion, others will see it differently, so let's see how many different views and ideas we get in here because of this remarkable and gorgeous piece.
I also think you may get some enquires from buyers if you got it out there. Would look great up on a wall.

Very nice Mike. The composition is beautiful and the colors just really POP from the greyscale. I do have to agree with waxpants about the rips and tape but judging from the mixed responses it sounds like just a matter of preference and yours should override them all anyway! :)

This is gorgeous ghost, I love it. I like the tape but think you should have maybe aged it a little whatever that means.
I think you should post more often.
Beautiful!!

:) Hi Mike
I already commented this in DA and really think it's great but I think also you can stand a lil crit:D if it's a crit.
I maybe the only one who doesn't know about those butterflies and the colors. I might be completly wrong but just desaturing those flyers a lil
then get rid of those straps and add more of those flowers that I see on down left.
Don't get me wrong (Iknow you wont) this pic looks great, but how could YOU do else:notworthy:notworthy

that's totally weird the way she's got her legs tangled with the arms of the chair. Nice results with the colors of the butterflies over the grayscale. over all, very powerful image.

Wow thanks everyone for the wonderful comments. I really never thought i would recieve this kind of response from this piece. The responses truly is what inspires me to do more, and work harder. I am always nervous when i show work because i really dont know how good it is until people comment/crit it. This goes for digital/traditional work. My thoughts going into this was a dark/light, dreamy sort of surreal feel to it. It is based off of a something someone once told me. (woman). From there this came about. The tape was just an after thought to make it look like a photo had been partially torn. I didnt make it look aged because that is where i wanted to distinguish old photo found and taped back together in present time.
~waxpants thank you sir for you comments and crits.

Really nice work Cyb.
It has a dark feel to it. Almost like the girl is dying and the butterflies are emerging as something new, perhaps she is going through change? I guess that is what it says to me anyhow. well executed and good choice of color and texture.
