cable modem > router > computers
i personally hate wireless since it usually complicates simple things particularly for the inexperienced. you can try your luck.
i presently have a lynksys cable modem and a lynksis router hard wired, and zero issues (also run a print server and a splitter but who carer?)

It's beter to do it with cables.... The wireless doesn't do well with concrete! But who's talking i got everything in one room (2 computers and a laptop). Make sure you buy a router/ modem in one, not a router and a modem...... I'm not saying it's cheaper but easier in use.
Be careful when you do wireless, make sure it secured because people on the street can easy use your wireless internet......

I would say do not get the router/cable modem in one. They are trouble and if one quits working you are no longer online with any PC until the unit get replaced or fixed. Wireless should be no problem if you do not plan on using network security. I would go with a netgear wireless router. Very easy to setup and use, in fact when you first plug it in and use the CD that comes with it, there is a tuitorial that you follow and it sets up the router as you do it. Just thought I'd put in my 2 cents, since I'm a network engineer. If you have any questions send a msg my way. andrew.perales@gmail.com
