Smart Objects

Hi, i am trying to get a text logo created in Illustrator into an image in photoshop as a smart object so it doesn't pixelate. I have typed out the text, created outlines in illustrator, saved the file as an .ai and then used place command in ps to import the file as a smart object. But no matter what i do it seems to pixelate? I thought it was supposed to be smooth no matter what size you made it?

you can try to import it twice the resolution you need, then make that layer a smart object.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried importing it at various resolutions but it still seems really pixelated.
