I can't see any examples... but I think I know what you're trying to do.

If you're trying to use photoshop to make images of your signature, tags, or whatever, the easiest thing I'd suggest is getting a scanner.

Once you get a scanner, scribble your signature, tag, whatever in large writing on a piece of plain white paper until you get one that you're satisfied with. Scan the WHOLE PAGE at a high resolution, and save it as a JPEG.

Open the JPEG in Photoshop. Using the rectangular marquee tool, draw a rectangle around the signature you like, and then hit ctrl+c (copy).

Next, go to file -> new, and when the window opens, select "Transparent" under the "background contents" drop-down menu. Then click ok. Once the new document opens, hit ctrl+v (paste) to paste your selected signature into a new document.

Next, use the magic wand tool, and click on any area that is the plain white page. It should select everything that ISN'T your signature. Hit delete, and it will get rid of any excessive white space. You may have to do this a few times to make sure you get rid of the white in the middle of "o's" and "b's".

Once you have just your signature (with a transparent background), click ctrl+a (select all), ctrl+c (copy), and then go to file -> new again. Once the new window opens, hit ctrl+v (paste) to paste your edited signature image into its own window.

You should save it (if you haven't by now), because this will be the base image that you will use. You can change colors and size using this as your starting point.

To change colors, click ctrl+A (select all), then go to select -> inverse. This should select your signature. After that, you can pick whatever color you want and literally paint over your signature with the new color using the brush, fill, or gradient tools.

To change size, you can go to image -> image size to change the dimensions or resolution of your signature, depending on what you plan on using it for (web, print, etc.).

I'm sure that there are a variety of ways to do this, but this is just one that I've discovered. I hope it helps.
