In the CS2 version of Illustrator when I want to align two selected objects they both move when centered.

How can I make it so that only one of the objects move when I align them.

Traded for Cheese, (interesting name)

I am glad you asked that question. I have been wondering the same myself. Most times I want one to align to the other’s position. I do not want both of them to move.

I have just started learning InDesign. InDesign has a lock position for objects. You can select both objects and align without moving the one you don’t want to move. Unfortunately, Illustrator does not have this feature.

Maybe someone here has a helpful tip.

Nothing has changed in CS2 about the align tool. Select the objects you want to align with the selection tool, and then click once on the object that you want the others to align to. This single click anchors the object. Now hit an alignment choice, and the other items will do the movin'.;)

SCync,

Your instructions worked like a charm. :) Thank you!

I have never heard of the single click to anchor an object.
