What do you listen to while you're being creative? I tend to put on:
Sun Kil Moon
Sufjan Stevens
Matmos
Calvin Johnson
Medeski, Martin & Wood
Lee Perry
Matis Yahu
and of course... "The Wiggles" are always playing somewhere in the background! :P

coldplay does have some good music for relaxing, although they make you want to sit in a corner and slice your wrists sometimes...

I also like some talk radio sometimes... Sirius stuff like RADIO BAM or Howard Stern... I find the talk helps me get in the zone... and you all know, the zone's where it's at...
Although, a little bit of Dimmu Borgir never hurts either! My friends and I have a theory that a little bit of "EVIL MUSIC THERAPY" can help clear your mind and actually RELAX you!... after the chatter in your brain gets purged (or scared off!)

presently iron maiden..feeling feisty tonight!
Soldier blue on the barren wastes
Hunting and killing their game
Raping the women and wasting the men
The only good indians are tame
Selling them whisky and taking their gold
Enslaving the young and destroying the old

Right now I'm listening to a Van Halen tape!! (yes a music cassette) It's a live show they did here in Holland (the netherlands if you want) back in 1995. This is the first show in 1˝ years and they do it with the Dutch van halen fanclub. It's for about a hour of putting the music (it's 8 o' clock in the morning) very very loud!!
Recorded at a secret place in Holland (well secret!!) it's recorded in Luxor, Arnhem on 27-01-1995 and broadcasted by Countdown Café (back then a very good radioshow, always with a live band or artists)...... YES!!!
But everything with a loud guitar in it works for me....

DRAGONFORCEEE :cheers The guitarist in that band is immense. One video I've seen is where like this guy solos for like 70% of the song, while the other dude is just drinking a beer!
Erm.. Recently I've gone pretty new old schoolish. For example, Alien Ant Farm etc. Otherwise, some choons from Yoko Kanno puts me in a photoshoppy mood. xD
I like trance! allot. Iwork with trance allmost all the time. It makes me more creative!
lol, yeah techni Q, actually everyone must be according that Herman is the best, no doubt, but Sam is a bit covered cos of Hermans skills, if in other band, he will give a show any time...

i LOVE Jazz.... All that Jazz... But a lot of new staff... Norah Jones, Diana Krall.... It helps me relax and i find that with that music background I dont focus on music so much = )
But than again it depends on the project... Let me put it this way... I always have my iPod near by, and it is full of all kind of different staff!

in act XVII of my life, which is the part where i design, the background music is:
beastie boys
silversun pickups
johnny cash
matthew sweet
tool
just cause i like a little variety :)
I listen to slacker.com
Radio station that lets me choose alot of stations, make my own stations, listen to stations by 'artist name' ie:
Les Claypool and I getta listen to claypool, primus and other funky metal bands with a similar taste/genre...
Best feature, I can ace an artist or song. So when Counting Crows starts to play I hit BAN and I never have to hear them again :D :D :D
I can't list specific artists 'cause one hour it's Fishbone and Primus, the next it's Leftover Salmon or the Gorrillaz, maybe the next it's just random reggea, bluegrass, funk or metal
