i am doing the tut on Double Bevelled outline and i understand it all perfectly but the part i dont get is after i chizzle my text how do u unchizzle it if i want to edit the text can anyone please tell me.

I'm not sure you can do it. You can definitely use a layer mask to chisel out your text so you don't have to worry about losing layer information on your original, but I don't think you can directly edit the layer mask like you would text, so the plain and simple is keep your text layer on your source, just make it invisible.

To apply a layer mask, select the layer you are chiselling and then press add a mask (the circle in the square at the bottom of the layers palette). Then ctrl-click your text layer and fill the mask (which you should be on) with Black.

thanks that did it because if i want to changethe text i can delete the layer mask and add a new one

You wont be able to edit the text because it was made into a selction and cut from the background. THis is done to allow the layer effects to apply to the text aswell.

If your background colour is solid like the tut, then you can just paint over the text, type some more in and delete it out again.

If you ever have to rasterize type to create layer effects it's always best to duplicate the layer before doing so. Then if you need to change the type you have a layer of editable text. You can then copy the layer effects from the other layer after rasterizing.
