help for crystals tutorial

hey could someone help me wif this ?

i'm stuck on step 5 of the crystal tutorial
i followed the instruction as close as i could but at step 5,i'm asked to filled the selected part wif a lighter color rite?how do i fill it wif a lighter blue wif the same effect as the example given?i mean when i fill the selected part it goes solid color and i did experiment around but so far i haven't come close to the example......could someone please help me wif this part?

my guess is that you may have missed the "feather" part, just a guess....

the part tat i didn't do was fade fill...never knew tat existed...well now i know
