View Full Version : The Difference in Bryce's Rendering

Compare this to the dull grey, blurred and rough-edged rendering of OpenGL, which I had to use with wings - my images were always made tiny so that the jagged edges showed less.

I've combined the ease of modelling of Wings 3D with the incredible renders Bryce provides - look at the improvement on that ol' torpedo!

now you see why you need more polygons;) more subdivisions the smoother your render will be

It has the same polygon count as the other Torpedo...
Even with enough polygons to nearly have a pixel per face, the render was jagged - not so with Bryce! On the down-side, I must admit that Bryce's colouring can only be applied to whole objects rather than sections.

:) You could export your dog head to .obj and email it to me, and I could let Bryce give it a fancy render and then return it - but I think fur's off the menu... :(

Dont forget, ive had Bryce 5 for many many months now. Not had it open for many months mind you, but i still have it :lol

Also, im pretty sure the 3ds will work too...In fact, im almost 100% positive Bryce handles it with ease :D But i will try it out and see if i can get anywhere...If not ill just try and merge some photos of my dogs fur over the 3D mesh :)

Think im gonna make some kind of flying jet and make one of those trembling animation effects :D damn thats so cool!

I didn't know you had Bryce - 5, eh? I think I've got the first one. No version number, just "It Moves!" under the title.

Love your torpedo animation !! that is so neat ! keep up the good work.

Forgive my ignorance but is'nt Bryce one of those expensive 3D progs.??

:) I'm afraid none of my software is exspensive - for example:

None of the Macromedia packages
Only Photoshop of the Adobe packages
My version of Photoshop is Elements 2.0 - an affordable cut-down version
Safari (free browser)
iMovie, iChat AV, and the rest of the Mac suite are free

Bryce was gotten one christmas when I was about...at least 9 or 10. It was gotten in a bundle with

RayDream 3D (first version)
Poser 3.0

All of these had better versions at the time I believe, and as it was christmas, and as these were a bundle (someone's trying to get rid of them), I shouldn't think they cost too much.

I'm very blessed too - a friend in my class just gave me a more than reasonable motorola phone (on the second say of having it, my first phone, I was mugged for the first time and lost it). A few months later another friend, not out of pity, because he didn't know about the mugging, gave me the nokia I have now - and it's greyscale, but very slim for my pocket etc...

:lol Woah, did I babble or what?

Basically, the most expensive item I own is my acoustic guitar, which was bought for £285.

Not expensive at all...In fact, a few pennies over £61 :D

:o Gosh! I'm having to run slow renders in the OS9 emulator, when for £61 I could have the latest version, presumably in OSX?

:) Cheers for the link Kris, you're a life saver!
