View Full Version : Dial-up friendly enough?

Hi everyone,
I'm nearly finished redoing my site using Flash and I learned how to use the "loadMovie" action, so the site should be a lot more dial-up friendly. Before I changed the code, most of the site had to load before people could see my gallery images. Now, just the splash animation and the navigation buttons have to load before the galllery images are accessible--much better.
I still don't have the preloaders in yet, but, if anyone using dial up could let me know how my site works for you, that would be much appreciated:)

I have a 56k modem and a dial-up connection, and it loaded wonderfully fast for me.
Looks very nice, too

Yeah, Realist, it's been too long:( I hope you are doing well.
Thanks for trying to go to my site, I appreciate it. Hopefully, you will be able to load it later.

Thanks, Colin. It took me a while to learn how to use the loadMovie action; I'm still quite new to using ActionScript. I finally bought a book on it, so hopefully I will get up to speed.
Thanks, too, TechZsue. I appreciate the feedback! Say, have you checked out the new three-channel SX amps by Carvn? I ordered the rackmount preamp version of the SX300 and can't wait to hear it!

Well, actually class is over and I wasn't able to finish it. I had a lot come up all at once and couldn't finish the final project. I also missed the last couple weeks of class. I still learned a lot, though, so it wasn't a complete waste of money (not a lot of money, though since Cabrillo College is only $11 per unit).
