How do you paste properly?

I can't use photoshop as good as I need to. The problem is, that I can't paste anything in the way that I could move it around. It ends up in the middle of the screen.:(

PS. It could be added to the tutorial in photoshop cafe, where you are guided how to extract a picture from another.

You can move anything around if it's on its own layer using the move tool. A quick note though, if you have a particular place you want to paste, you will always paste in the very center of a selection. So select the area you want to paste in first.
