Dunnio, was fooling around with strata trying to create some shapes and textures - Its not really supposed to be anything except for an experiment, thought I would show you. Its not the usualy colors I choose either

Wow! Beautiful!
Like a giant winecork from Babylon 5..
The background composition is also great!
Maybe the white "rulers" at top and botom are un-necessary? (sp) tugs at the eye a little.
:)

Nice, but the 2d and composition coud use some work. It doesn't seem to flow together, kind of like it's just a big ole' cork then some funny shapes, some rulers, a radar screen, you get the idea. Try and develope some sort of theme and work off of that.

O and please don't ban me for critting your work...:P

Funny you should say that, I was inspired by the B5 Hyperspace for the red b/g

colin i was thinking and have a idea what if you make that radar grid in perspective the same way the splatters going.i think it will give that xtra depth to the piece

The composition is great. your into your groove with these kind of techno compositons colin, though i feel the blatant whitie section could be removed as its hitting the eye too hard. also the above ruler could be melded into the entire bg better...

the good thing about 3d is that you can merge in abstract shapes to create some very unusual and exotic looking imagery..,

i love that image, although i do agree that the white does strike the eye a bit, the white round the edges needs to be toned down a bit, draws attension away from the centre image too much...
nice work tho :)

hi colin, great piece of experiment here, like a space station withstanding a big explosion.

however, I personally think the white area at bottom right would be better of, by replacing it to black. It bring in a contrasting 2d element and break the depth feel of 3d space.

Better than I could do with a 3D ap. I haven't the first clue as to how to use Maya, 3DS Max, or any of the rest of that type of ish.
