the cd sounds great...too bad I can't afford CS yet.:(

I love the colour scheme...I have a similar one I'm using on a website that's in development for a Band I'm working with.

Something about the eyes is bugging me though. Maybe it's that the left one is too bright or....

no idea but it looks fabulous anyway.

holding my breath....the cover looks cool.

Very nice cover - like the fonts (what fonts are used - i'm not very good with typeography) and like the colours.

Eurostile Extended I believe.

It's also extremely close to Microgamma if you have either.

looks pretty sharp except I'm not crazy about the binary code - I always associate that more with information and data as opposed to photography which is more of an art. Maybe throw some photos into the montage like a landscape or a city shot. Just suggestions.

wow looking great as usual.

Looks really good Colin, nice colors and layout. My only suggestion is to use something other than eyes in the bg image, it just seems like every design associated with PS has an eye/eyes in it somewhere(it's probably just me).

I just love the combination of that dark gray and the warm orange and yellow. One of my favorite combinations. Looks really good!

Thanks for the comments

Scott: I have the binary because I want to emphisis the "digital" part of photography :)

Frank: the eye has long been an icon of Photoshop (although its changed to a feather in cs)

wow, very nice! I know it may seem like a sacriledge to give the boss a crit, but im not sure about the bevel on the bottom, im wondering what itd look like without one....

right now it seems out of place.

But the rest is awesome! cant wait to see the finished product.

Wow, that's very nice, great job!

Ash: I am quite open to crit and appreciate honest feedback :)

Brilliant as always Boss man. :notworthy

But I have to agree with Ashworks about the bevel. It does seem a little out of place.

I think the bevel is as we say here up north: "The dot over the i" meaning it's the final touch that "does" the whole thing.
Very tasteful indeed.

The only critic that came to my mind is about the eyes: something was 'bothering' me, maybe just out of place! Didn't include the photoshop icon in my thoughts!
An outsider for a moment, but you ask us for critic, so we go deep ! Obvious, you're the boss man !:)

But then again I like the bevel at the bottom very much, it suits the font and gives a modern touch! Different oppinions, different tastes!

Great overall look, cool color combination! More than just fine....:D

You buy the font, and then your free to use it for what you want.

Interesting hearing different opinions, I like the bevel on the bottom myself, because it ties it into the first CD

01-10-2004, 05:01 PM
I vote for the bevel, it gives it all some depth.....there seems to be this trend away from bevel and emboss and I blame the educators for that....... the eyes are troublesome and I cannot put a finger on them, in them or around them and if I poke them I won't be able to see so I'll leave 'em alone:D
I like the colors, it follows your other work and I do like the binary......... really there isn't much I don't like, nice work kiwiman!

the eye has long been an icon of Photoshop (although its changed to a feather in cs)

Then shouldn't you change the eyes into the feather, since the book is for cs. You gotta stay updated colin.

It's good! I'd keep the bevels because it seems to work well, and you've used them before alot to produce some great stuff. It's almost like a trademark. I've gotta agree with the eyes though. They look a little strange. I'm not sure what you could do with em'. (lower the opacity maybe) but they seem a little to forceful imo. Good luck!

I am going to do something with the eyes I think :)
