I know this forum says no question is to dumb, but this one may sure sound it !

I have bought numerous books on Photoshop from Photoshop 7 bible, Killer tips, and Most wanted ( which is a great book ). The problem I have here is, I still don't really know how to draw a curved line and make it continuous.

For example, if I was drawing an interface where I only wanted say, one rounded corner but then needed it to finish at its start point where it could then be made a selection that could be filled.

How is this done without using that akward to use curve tool that goes all over the place and hard to judge ?

I guess u can use the pen tool.
I just started using it yesturday actually (homer pic)....even though I've been using PS for 4-5 months. When I get more comfortable with it, i'm sure it'll become VERY useful.

Yeah, I've been using it for months too and I'm getting quite comfortable with the program, however, the only thing that un-hinges me is drawing curved line.

Macromedia has done a great job with this within Flash. I only wish it was as easy in Photoshop !!

One quick and eazy way is to use the elliptical marque, place it where you want it, stroke it the width and color you want and erase what you don't want.

grab your rectangel dotted line box thingy and make the box size u want, then go select>modify>smooth and enter in a number in the text box that pops up it will smoothe the corners and give u a rounded rectangle, also when useing the pen tool never click of more than a small chunk, when you get somthing where the pen tool makes a huge odd swoop that means u need to use more points to make the curve, just experment a bit i guess :)

when ever i use the pen tool to draw a curve it fills the whole curve instead of making a curved line it makes a half circle, is this normal? i always have to do it the way stellor said with the eliptical marque tool.

my advice for will i ever learn : use the help that comes with photoshop thats what the adobe gods put it there for - you cant get any more precise for an explaination about the tools - trust me "help" has everything apart from telling you WHAT to draw

In response to milagroman, I honestly can't find much help on this subject anywhere, not even in the help that's shipped with Photoshop.

I have used the technique that Stellor
suggested, I just thought that there must be an easier way of doing it !

I either use the Pen tool or for a more curvy look I'll make a Circle then cut it in half and bada-Bing...Curved line:D
