I've just finished my HTML course, and this is my final project. I plan to tweak it some before signing up with a host, and I would appreciate any comments. It's on a college server now, so don't be surprised if anything happens.

i think the idea with the speaking-bubbles(is it called so?) is good, but they're too static they should change on mouseover!
second thing is the background, the texture is BAD(sorry!) you can make such a better background i think!
third thing is the size of your site, its too small! you have the space of about 800x600 to use, so use it!
hope i could help

Thanks, hangover. You're right about the mouseovers on the balloons--it will take some additional learning on my part to do it, though. I do plan to make the text holder larger to take up more space. The background is supposed to represent a drawing board--I like it, but my respondents either don't know that or don't like it. Guess it's back to the drawing board on the background, so to speak.

i think itīs a nice and clean start!
rollovers would be nice though...
imho, the background needs some fixation.
what about centering your page (horz & vert)?
i sugest you add a small border round your stuff (with wooden bgrd there)
and center it all.
leave the rest of the backgrd in one color.
any question how to do that? feel free to contact me.

lol, those cartoon's are cool :) must be kinda difficult comming up with some of the idea's for them, other than that, it's a clean easy to navigate site :)
Though i'd agree on some mouse overs, even if it was the links changing color...
other than that, keep the cartoon's comming :)

Thanks, Snake, for your kind comments. You're right, the ideas for the cartoons are the hardest part. I always keep a small pad and pen handy, just in case an idea hits me.

I've always looked at those cartoon's an admired the artist of it, for a single picture to be so funny is ( i would have thought ) a difficult task. I've even tried it before but never been able to think of anything which would have been original or amusing. :)
keep it up :)
ps: that Dead or alive picture you done is cool :) makes me chuckle :)

I like the site. It's quick and easy on the eyes.
I would change the background. I think a more appropriate background would be a drawing table top with clutter, or newspaper texture. Just a thought.
Nice cartoons!

fotodog, thanks for your comments. The background seems to be the area I need to work on, based on feedback I've had on this board and other areas. You must have seen my real drawing board to come up with the "cluttered" idea. I like your idea--I'm trying to think of a way to do it in tiles instead of one large image.

Hi,
the thing i would change is the background. Other than this i think the idea of the page is good. I like your cartoons too, they're very funny :)
I noticed you are a golfer..
I got addicted to golf this summer, but couldnt afford the green card, and now i have to wait five months with winter before having the opportunity again. But in may i will be entering the local golf courses! Luckily i have Tiger Woods on the comp while i wait :)

Thanks, Dissen. Yes, golf is addictive and takes a lot of time if one wants to do well. I'm in sunny Houston, Texas and thought about playing yesterday. I know you didn't want to hear that.

If you are using IE go to view - text size - largest and the whole design kinda falls apart including making your background repeat - sorry :(
You can't dictate what settings your audience will use and so it's useful to try it at different text sizes etc.
The good news is probably not many alter the text size, and even if they do you can solve the problem by using pt sizes for your fonts in the HTML rather than the standard Font 1, 2 ,3 or whattever.

Thanks, Tigerman. I did not know that. That's what I like about this forum.
